You’ll meet with Nick Craghead, Weigand’s Talent Acquisition Manager. He’ll assist with processing your application and submitting it to our system. From here, Nick will help find the role that best fits your skills and interests, moving you to the next step in your career journey.
Apprenticeship
You’ll complete your apprenticeship over the course of four years, getting an education while you work. Spending one week per quarter in the classroom (bookwork + hands-on learning), you’ll graduate with an associate’s degree in applied science.
Journeyman
As a full-time, licensed worker, you’ll continue gaining experience and specializing your skill set through our employee development programs. We have growth opportunities available at every stage in the trades, giving you the tools to keep building your future in the years that follow!
Trades Opportunities

Laborer
Laborers are the lifeblood of a project, setting the table for everyone working on the job site. They excel at anticipating the needs of a project and are instrumental in ensuring that all other trades succeed.
Typical work includes:
- Logistical Leadership
- Site Safety Implementation
- Equipment Operator
- Manages Site Cleanliness
- Includes Hod Carriers for Masons
Wage Rates*
Apprentice (year 1): $18.70-$24.53/hr
Journeyman (year 5+): $24.93-$32.41/hr

Concrete Finisher
Concrete Finishers are specialists within their scope of work. This means that they can be at multiple projects over the course of a week, preparing, pouring, and treating concrete as needed on the job.
Typical work includes:
- Sidewalks and Exterior Paving
- Vertical Concrete Wall Finishing
- Installation of Concrete Flatwork
- Rubbing/Finishing Exposed Concrete Walls

Apprentice (year 1): $21.04-$24.26/hr
Journeyman (year 5+): $30.05-$34.65/hr

Carpenter
Carpenters’ responsibilities cover a broad range, requiring their expertise at nearly every stage of a project from start to finish. As a result, they are the largest group of WCI trade professionals.
Typical work includes:
- Rough Blocking and Framing
- Building Concrete Forms
- Acoustical Ceilings
- Studs & Drywall
- Doors/Frames

Apprentice (year 1): $19.04-$19.87/hr
Journeyman (year 5+): $31.74-$33.11/hr

Mason
Masons are the authority on all things brick, block, and stone. With their trade falling under a specialized scope, masons are one of the highest demand workers in the Midwest region.
Typical work includes:
- Bricklaying
- Block
- Stone
- Caulking
- Restoration

Journeyman (year 5+): $35.00-$36.36/hr
